Having been looking through all my Facebook memories daily, I have come to realize something: being a rual letter carrier has shown me a lot of things. Funny things, strange things, heartwarming things. So I decided to make this blog specifically to share these delightful stories with you!

In an age where most people have a job, some are lucky enough to have a career, there is a surprisingly small percentage of working adults who sincerely love what they do for a living. I have been so fortunate to have found that kind of happiness; I get to do something that brings me a sincere sense of fulfilment and satisfaction. And I have been lucky enough to already have 11 years in this career under my belt.

But I didn’t always want to be a rural carrier. If you had asked me 12 years ago what I wanted to do with my life, I would have given a different answer. Life has a funny way of taking you where you’re meant to be. When I started as a mail carrier, I saw it simply as a stepping stone to something else, a means to an end. Mom had just started working at the PO a few months earlier and she convinced me to apply as well.

Here I am, 11 years later, a fourth generation postal worker, my life completely different than I’d expected it to be, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

So, to start off this blog, I’ll share a post I’d made on Facebook one year ago today:

Wearing my shirt today that says “Skilled enough to work at USPS, crazy enough to love it”.
Delivered a package to a guy standing in his driveway and wished him a great weekend. As I turn to head back to my truck, he stops me and says, “You always have a smile when I see you. You must love your job?”
Can’t help it, I truly do. Shirt’s not a gimmick, I can’t believe I get paid to do something I genuinely love to do ❤ #lovemyjob
